Sew Opportunity Physical Locations Structure There is a perfect
design for the SO. A ware house zoned commercial/residential,
1000sq ft or more, 10ft or taller ceilings, well insulated with
great natural light, close to public transportation, on the first
floor, bathroom with a shower is a plus and a kitchenette is
desirable. These spaces can be used for warehousing and
distribution of donated goods and all materials. Ideally each
location has livable spaces for elders of the unit and can
accommodate a few travelers. The overall space that is sought out
is usually pretty raw. A floor that can be swept everyday easily is
a must. Ample overhead illumination may require fluorescent
lighting. Internet access is mandatory. Centrally positioned near
areas where the SO traffic is coming from the physical locations
can pop up any where. A Sew-op can start with one person, which is
usually the case, that grows an interest in community. Some people
recognize that the way to utilize resources is by connecting people
to other people, places and things.
Farmers markets are the place
to find all the people from all different directions and ethics.
Thus providing trading posts where cross culture and community
building is happening while people who are dedicated to the cause
promote a sustainable model. At a farmers market folks can bring
there goods to sell as well create things on the spot, creating a
performance art of it. For instance live screen printing while
there maybe a drum circle of sorts or something. Basic Inventory
